It's a Mellow Kind of Night

The Wife is working, and it's just me and the dogs here tonight. I'm working on that dent in the chair, and generally getting my relax on. Things could be worse.

Why Herbivores Will Never Rule the World

I heard an interesting evolutionary theory the other day: Herbivores are incapable of evolving to sentience. The idea is that a big brain is an advantage if you have to outsmart your food, otherwise it's a waste of energy (it takes a lot of calories to keep a brain operating, calories which could be better spent growing horns, or genitals, or children, or whatever. But, if not being smart means you don't eat, well, that changes things. You just don't have to be that clever to sneak up on a bush.

Vacation

The Wife and I just got back from the Land of Beer and Honeys. It was a good trip...the business end of it went well, and the social end was very nice. I foresee return engagements in the near future.

Ding Dong

It probably won't surprise anyone to know that I'm no fan of al-Qaeda or bin Laden. In fact, I'm downright happy the fucker is dead. Now, some folks are saying we shouldn't be happy about that. They quote MLK, the Bible, etc on how we shouldn't rejoice in death, that even the death of the wicked is not a good thing, on and on....

I guess they're just better people than me. I can live with that.
