It's Monsoon Season here in The Big Easy, and let me tell you the grass is getting long. I was going to mow today, but it rained literally all day. Watch me cry about that...

Honest, Santa, I've been a Good Boy

After working hard (only got 2 naps in while on-duty) ALL WEEK, I decided to take it easy today. Napped a bit, went and got a haircut, then went out for some bar food. Let me tell you that a burger, beer, and cheese fries go down really well after a long week at the office.

I'm off for the next 3 days. I plan to sit on my ass for much of it.

It Has Come to My Attention

...that, since North Korea has turned acting like an ass into a full-time job (roughly 2006), two different presidents have failed to make it glow in the dark; Afghanistan is likewise in need of some parking-lot therapy; and Osama Bin Laden's head is STILL not on a pike outside the White House.

We may have to repurpose Fish'n'Chips this year.

Yardwork Again

Thanks to the vagaries of work schedules, the monsoon season, and laziness, I haven't addressed the lawn in...wow, almost 3 weeks. You can imagine what 3 weeks of well-watered growth looks like. In a swamp. In August.

Being too cheap to rent a bushhog, I set the Little Pushmower that Could on its highest setting and took a lap around the yard. Actually worked pretty well. Of course, that's nowhere near short enough, so I put the mower back down to its regular setting and started again.

I am getting too old for this.

That's Just Disturbing

Surfing the Internet today, I stumbled upon some very mild soft-core pornography. Hell, it wasn't even really pornography, just a pic of some kissing. Ok, they were topless, but it's not like you could see nipples or anything.

Because they were both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Leonardo and Michaelangelo, I believe. Damn you, Rule 34. Damn you to hell.

I Spoke Too Soon

Last night I was bragging about all my upcoming days off, and how little I have to work this week. So of course I get a phone call, "plague, locusts, blah, blah, blah, can you come in a few extra days this week?" Oh, well. The paycheck will be that much sweeter.
