An Excellent Tool for the Wasting of Time

...and they call it Facebook.  I couldn't sleep last night, started poking around online, and found an old college friend.  And some pages for old college friends I hadn't lost.  And some in-laws.  And some ex-co-workers.  And some current co-workers.  And...you get the idea.

Anyway, I'm on facebook now, although I expect I'll keep the blog open for ranting and whatnot.

Congratulations. You are free to move about other peoples' lives.

I've noticed one thing about people on facebook:
    they all need hobbies.

I've had others try to explain the wonder that supposedly is facebook, but I just don't get it.
I'm not saying that you're a git for doing it, but I don't want to believe that my life is searchable.

    OK, maybe I am.

Hey Kaiser Andy, did you ever consider that FaceBook is their hobby?
I have several hobbies but find that when I'm too sore from doing one or more of them, that FB is better than sitting in a mind-numbing stupor in front of the TV. It's so much more fun checking in with some distant friends.

I have to back Andy up in some respects, i do know people who a) update everything they do in their lives on facebook (i.e. going to the mail box, paying bills, getting up to get a glass of water, sitting down to watch xyz...you get the idea) and b) facebook stalkers where they know everything about your life because they incessently check in on people.
However, in the defense of facebook, which i am a member of. I do get to keep in touch with people who i otherwise would never talk to and it was a lifesaver during that natural disaster we had a few years back. I could check to see which ones of my friends had found a safe place to land and which ones we still had to be worried about. So there are pros and cons. But welcome Dr. T to the wonderful time suck that is FB
