Discussion Question

How early is 'too early' to hang holiday decorations?

I normally don't start hanging my Columbus day decorations which include pictures of the Nina, the Pinto, the Ave Maria, and the ever important picture of someone with small pox before the end of September. Anytime before that is just gauche.

I thought pictures of people with smallpox were for President Jackson's birthday.

The rule about Christmas in my house has always been after Thanksgiving or the first Sunday of Advent, whichever comes first (since sometimes Advent comes before Thanksgiving). Halloween is up for grabs the first of October. I guess about a month for major holidays, and a couple weeks for smaller ones.

Personally, I like one month or after the preceding major holiday, whichever comes later. But then I'm kind of a grinch.

As Dr. T can tell you I am anything but a grinch but I have always despised the fact that xmas music always starts being played in public areas on my birthday.

It also seems to me that the people who decorate at their earliest possible convienence are the people whose house always looks like the ghost of xmas past threw up on their lawns.
