Solving the Homelessness Problem

Homelessness Urban outdoorsmanship has become a significant problem in post-Katrina N'awlins. Folks living under bridges have started to form neighborhood watches. But in nearby Jefferson* Parish a very pragmatic approach has been taken: They're knocking down the bridges. That's right, folks. The Causeway overpass at Jefferson Davis* Highway overpass is no more, as traffic is rerouted around a major condominium construction project. I was going to take a picture and post it, but I'm lazy.

*That's President Davis to y'all.

    Pretty soon they'll form sports leagues.

    i disagree gentlemen. It is this type of stunning underachievement that made america mediocre. why is the pilgram a folk hero and the viet nam era vagrant just a pathetic junkie? The hobo is now lionized as the embodyment of american independance and non-conformist rebellion. (amazing what happens when your story is written by woody guthrie)

    I foresee a time when the displaced persons of the american underbelly will take there place in folklore beside Paul Bunyan and Tom Jode. Theire not just homeless, they're grate people!

    Well, homeless of today, and hobo of Woody Guthrie's time are not exactly the same entity.
    Besides, I don't recall a Woody Guthrie tune about hobos. There are many about migrant laborers, and some about people not being able to work due to the Great Depression, however.

    Besides, folk heros are just people who defied the law in defence of what they saw as right.

    So if we should look at Protestant squatting freeloaders as heros, count me out.
