On Efficiency
I'm listening to Henry Rollins talk about how, as he matures as a writer, he strives to have more effect with fewer words. It's an interesting idea, but I don't know if, in literature, it's *necessarily* a good one. One the one hand, if you really need to get something done it makes sense to do it as quickly and cleanly as possible. On the other hand, sometimes it's less about the product than the process.
In other words, the destination is less important than the journey.
The telling of a good tale...that's something worthy.
