ATTENTION GEORGE LUCAS:

This is how it's supposed to be done.

New Star Trek movie.  Despite an automatic one-star deduction under the Joe Bob rule, this flick kicked ass.  Action, adventure, drama, plot twists, and stuff blowin' up pretty much all the time.  Great effort was obviously spent to get the feel and look of the original series.  The actors did an awesome job of capturing the spirit of the originals.  And they set themselves up to totally retell the original series.  I'm geeking out, just a little bit.

Four stars.  Ted sez check it out.

The Right to Keep and Arm Bears

In a Senate vote last week, a bill permitting concealed handgun license holders to carry in national parks passed when 27 Democrats crossed the aisle to vote with the Republicans. This week will bring even more change when the same Democrats take a giant first step toward overturning Democrat promoted legislation passed during the gun control heyday of 1994. Senate Veterans Affairs Committee members are this week expected to pass the Veterans Second Amendment Protection Act out of committee. The bill, co-sponsored by Virginia Democrat Jim Webb and North Carolina Republican Richard Burr, will then go to a floor vote where it is likely to pass with only minor opposition.

Karate Kid: The Remake

Rumor has it that Will Smith is remaking The Karate Kid, with his son as Daniel-san and Jackie Chan as Mr. Miyagi.

I have a lot of respect for Smith's work, especially the more recent stuff, but really?  Is this necessary?  What does he expect to add to the piece by remaking it?

We shall see.
